Welcome to the Oconomowoc Wrestling Club Honey Badger Youth Wrestling Program!

Our program is designed to introduce young athletes to wrestling, build strong fundamentals, develop confidence and athleticism, and provide a pathway for continued growth and competition.

🚨 LIMITED SPACE — 50 WRESTLERS PER SESSION

Due to overwhelming interest and limited space at our new facility, registration will be limited to 50 wrestlers per session.

🥊 LEVEL 1 — BEGINNERS

Level 1 is designed for young wrestlers who are new to the sport or have approximately 0–2 years of wrestling experience.

LEVEL 1 FOCUS

Level 1 focuses on building the foundation every wrestler needs.

Athletes will work on:

• Body control

• Gymnastics and athletic movement

• Total-body strength

• Strong wrestling stance

• Level changes

• Single-leg takedowns

• Double-leg takedowns

• Down blocks

• Sprawls

• Stand-ups

• Half Nelsons

Level 1 is intended for wrestlers with 0–2 years of experience. Wrestlers may remain in Level 1 for a third year depending on their progression and skill development.

MOVING TO LEVEL 2

***Wrestlers must successfully complete the Level 1 test-out before moving into Level 2.***

A wrestler may request to test out of Level 1 at any time during the season.

🔥 LEVEL 2 — WARRIORS

LEVEL 2 FOCUS

Level 2 is designed for wrestlers with approximately 3+ years of experience who can efficiently perform the skills included in the Level 1 checklist.

Training will build on the fundamentals while introducing:

• Advanced technique

• Live wrestling situations

• Continued body-control development

• Strength and conditioning

• More advanced wrestling positions

• Increased intensity and competition preparation

As wrestlers develop, we will begin introducing more competitive opportunities. We generally encourage competition beginning around 8 years old, depending on the individual wrestler's development and readiness.

🏆 TOURNAMENTS

We plan to attend approximately 3–4 local tournaments as a team, including at least one beginner-friendly tournament.

Tournament dates and locations will be announced as they are finalized.

USA WRESTLING MEMBERSHIP

***REQUIRED FOR ALL WRESTLERS***

Every athlete must have a current USA Wrestling Traditional Athlete Membership in order to participate in practices.

The membership is approximately $60 and is purchased separately from Oconomowoc Wrestling Club registration.

The USA Wrestling membership is separate from OWC club dues and is required for participation.

👕 PRACTICE T-SHIRTS & SINGLETS

PRACTICE T-SHIRT

Register by November 9, 2026 to ensure eligibility for the included practice T-shirt.

Registrations after November 9 may not receive a free practice shirt, depending on availability.

🤼‍♂️ OPTIONAL COMPETITION SINGLET

A 2026–2027 Honey Badger singlet will be available for purchase during registration.

Singlet: $50

If your wrestler plans to compete in tournaments this season, make sure you select the singlet option during registration.

🤝 FAMILY VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPATING FAMILIES

The Oconomowoc Wrestling Club is bringing back our Youth Wrestling Tournament!

📅 March 13, 2027

All participating families will be expected to volunteer in some capacity during the season.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Helping at the Youth Wrestling Tournament

• Assisting in the wrestling room

• Coaching/helping with wrestlers

• Helping with the annual OWC summer fundraiser

$50 BUYOUT OPTION

Families may choose to buy out of the volunteer obligation for an additional $50.

🏫 MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLERS

6th–8th GRADE

Oconomowoc also offers a separate Middle School Wrestling Program through SLI, NHI, and eligible in-district homeschool athletes.

The middle school season runs separately from the youth club season.

Middle school wrestlers are welcome to join the youth club practices after their middle school season concludes.

Please contact the Oconomowoc Wrestling Club for details regarding registration, USA Wrestling membership, and participation in the youth program.

NO REFUNDS AFTER NOVEMBER 9, 2026

No refunds will be issued after November 9, 2026.

Once final singlet and practice T-shirt orders have been placed, those items are non-refundable.

Registrations received after November 9 may not receive a practice T-shirt, depending on availability.
